Pearl Lake Diagnostic Study - August 2010
Clean Water Partnership Work Plan
Long term residents of Pearl Lake have reported a decrease in clarity over summer months as well as observed an increase in the
intensity of summer algal blooms. Residents believe agricultural runoff as well as shoreline development is likely impacting the water quality
of the lake. Download and read entire study Here

IMPORTANT NOTICE
Township road 'Rights of Way' issues
Please note, that by Minnesota State Statute, not only is unsafe but it is illegal to place any items, plant trees or shrubs, build any
type of structure, park vehicles or dump leaves/grass clipping into the right of way of any road in Minnesota. This statute also prohibits the
parking of campers or errecting fences (whether agricuture related or not) in the right of way. Violation of this statute is considered a criminal
misdemeanor and the person or persons responsible are subject to a fine and/or jail.
As township supervsiors we are tasked with insuring our road right of ways are kept clear for public safety. We make periodic
inspections of our roads and it is our responsiblity to notify residents if they are in violation. We make every effort to contact the person/s responsible
to have it corrected prior to turning the issue over to the Becker County Sheriff. We have worked hard in the past couple of years to clean up our right of
ways, including cutting and brushing. These trees/shrubs reduce visibility and are considered a hazard. Please understand that we as supervisors enjoy
the beauty of trees/schrubs but need to insure the safety of the drivng public. We ask you to please comply with the Minnesota Statue and to also inform your
friends and neighbors if they are in violation. Together we can keep our road right of ways clean and safe. As for the 'right of way' width, the rule
of thumb is that the right of way extends 33' in both directions from the centerline of the road. If you have any questions regarding this issue please
contact any of your township supervisors. Names and information are posted on the 'Township Board' page of this website. Thank you for your continued
cooperation.
